Maruti ACross is the name of SX4 S-Cross for Indian market

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, leading automakers in the country will be launching a new compact crossover next month. Known as SX4 S-Cross globally, this new CUV will be renamed as the ACross in India.

 Showcased as as SX4 S-Cross during 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

Maruti ACross will be 4.3 meter long. It was showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, after which it commenced testing in India. Sighted on test on a number of occasions across the country, launch of Maruti ACross will take place in May 2015.

The new crossover will be the first vehicle from Maruti in the segment. It will find many competitors in India on launch in the form of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Mahindra XUV500 and yet to be launched Hyundai ix25. It is expected to come in with a price tag of Rs 10-12 lakhs.

Maruti ACross features high ground clearance, ideally suited for Indian road conditions. It is seen with black cladding and metal scuff plates at both front and rear. The top spec ACross will receive LED daytime running lights and will sit on 16” alloy wheels. Interiors of the upcoming crossover will be in a two toned colour scheme with plenty of on board equipment.

 Interiors of Across and SCross will be same.

Maruti Suzuki ACross measuring 4,300 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width and 1,575 mm in height, sits on a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. It will run on a Fiat sourced 1.6 liter, four cylinder diesel engine offering 118 bhp power and 32 kgm torque mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki sold a record number of 1.17 million vehicles in the past financial year and reported growth of 11%. With the brand entering new segments like compact SUV and mini SUVs during the year, double digit growth is estimated this year as well.
