2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon SUV Launched in India

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has been launched in India at a price tag of Rs 68.94 lakh (all-India, ex-sh price)

Deliveries for the five-door SUV will begin on March 15, 2020. The imported model has generated ample interest, and the manufacturer confirms ‘numerous pre-orders’ from Indian customers. Wrangler Rubicon is built on the brand’s 4×4 capability. Rubicon is Trail Rated, and where’s a badge to indicate the same. Designed to obliterate off-road challenges, Rubicon ticks performance checks in regard to traction, ground clearance, manoeuvrability, articulation and water fording.

It says a lot that Wrangler Rubicon is the most powerful and the most efficient Wrangler built to date. Dr. Partha Datta – President and Managing Director, FCA India said, “Discerning Indian customers generally know what they want to purchase next and there are many who have waited to own the most recognised vehicle in the world.”

With Wrangler Rubicon being an attractive proposition for those ‘who know their Jeep well’, the company is chuffed about the unprecedented order bank from those keen to purchase this off-roader. Jeep India finds itself in a position to complete delivery of its Rubicon import shipment earlier than expected. For the manufacturer, Jeep Wrangler is a successful model in India, and dominates brand CBU sales here at 67 percent share. The vehicle was first launched here in 2016.

2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon builds on its legendary history with an unmatched combination of off-road capability, authentic Jeep design, open-air freedom and comes equipped with an advanced fuel efficient powertrain, superior on- and off-road dynamics and a host of innovative safety and advanced technology features.

The Heavy Duty Wrangler Rubicon runs on the Jeep RockTrac 4×4 all-wheel drive (AWD) system. It operates on a two-speed transfer case with a 4:1 “4LO” low-range gear ratio, full-time torque management for optimal grip in low traction conditions, and next gen Dana 44 front and rear axles. Suspension is improved with an electronically operated Sway Bar disconnect that enhances extreme off-roading capability. Rubicon has ground clearance of 217 mm, and larger approach, break over and departure angles.

Wrangler Rubicon gets power from a 4-cylinder, DOHC, inline, turbocharged 2.0-litre 268 HP / 400 Nm, petrol engine tuned to perform like a V6. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine is paired with 8-speed automatic transmission to deliver crawl ratio of 77.2:1.

Safety features include driver and front passenger airbags, supplementary seat-mounted passenger side airbags, park assist system, rear back up camera, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM) and Tyre Pressure Monitoring.
