Maruti Ertiga sales at 8,955 units in March 2019 – Highest ever

It’s been just four months since the launch of the new generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and there has been a turnaround in terms of sales. The old Ertiga never saw sales cross the 8,000 unit mark in a month. And it was on sale for 84 months.

However, ever since the latest generation Ertiga was launched in November 2018, there has been a significant increase in terms of sales. Sales of Maruti Ertiga topped the charts in the MPV segment in March 2019 with total sales of 8,955 units, up from 5,086 units sold in March 2018.

This next gen Ertiga is priced from Rs.7.44 lakhs to Rs.10.90 lakhs and offered in 10 variant, 5 color options and petrol and diesel engines. In March, the company had also discontinued the base variant LXi and LDi due to low demand.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga sales exceeded that of the Mahindra Bolero and Xylo and even the recently launched Marazzo. Sales of the Bolero and Xylo fell 12 percent and 50 percent respectively while Marazzo sales were at 2,751 units in the past month.

Toyota Innova Crysta stood at No. 3 in terms of sales in the past month with sales at 6,984 units while sales of the Tata Hexa dipped 74 percent to 366 units as against 1,404 units sold in the same month of the previous year. Tata also saw sales of its Sumo dip by 88 percent to 96 units as against 809 units sold in March 2018.

Datsun GO+ sales dipped 56 percent to 291 units as compared to 663 units sold in March 2018 while sales of the Renault Lodgy fell 73 percent to 54 units in March 2019 as against sales of 202 units in March 2018.

Sales in this segment were up 12 percent due to the excellent performance of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga while sales of the Toyota Innova and Mahindra Marazzo also brought up sales to 27,918 units in March 2019 as against sales of 25,031 units in March 2018.
