New Hyundai Elantra launch price INR 12.99 lakhs

The new Hyundai Elantra has been launched in India at INR 12.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The latest gen entry-D segment sedan emerges as a vastly improved product over its predecessor.

For starters, the new Elantra has bid adieu to the Fluidic Sculpture design language in favor of a more mature and edgy theme. Sleek headlamps, low-slung hexagonal chrome grill, and boomerang shaped foglight enclosures make for an interesting front fascia.

 The top-end variant gets multiple airbags and dual-zone climate control.

A gently arching roofline, angular green house, and a short rear overhang characterize the profile. Hyundai has bestowed the new Elantra with stylish LED taillights.

Inside, the dashboard design derives inspiration from more premium global Hyundai sedans. The sedan is equipped with several upmarket features such as dual-zone climate control, touchscreen infotainment system with Andriod Auto and Apply CarPlay, multiple airbags, and so on.

 The Elantra is offered with 2.0-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engines

The Elantra is available in five trims namely S, SX, SX AT, SX(O), SX(O) AT. Powertrain lineup includes a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre petrol engine which pumps out 152 PS and 190 Nm of torque. Diesel engine option is a 1.6-litre unit which is rated at 128 PS and 265 Nm of torque. Both motors can be specified with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed speed automatic transmission.

Petrol motor returns an ARAI rated mileage of 14.59 kmpl and 14.62 kmpl when paired with manual and automatic transmission respectively. Diesel manual is good for 22.54 kmpl while the diesel auto delivers 18.23 kmpl.

The new Hyundai Elantra will be picking up a fight with the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Octavia, VW Jetta, Chevrolet Cruze and Renault Fluence.
