New Volvo S60 Polestar has been launched in India today at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. We have just finished driving this performance sedan around the track, and have been thoroughly impressed. What is even more impressive is the starting price. It is on sale at just INR 52.5 lakh, ex-showroom, New Delhi. At this price point, it rivals the likes of Mercedes AMG C43 and Audi S5 Sportback among others.
The S60 Polestar is the first product from Volvo’s performance arm, Polestar to be launched in India. It sports a 2.0 liter four cylinder, supercharged petrol engine offering 362 bhp peak power at 6,000rpm and 470 Nm torque at 3,100-5,100 rpm mated to an 8 speed automatic gearbox sending power to all four wheels. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph can be achieved in 4.7 seconds and top speed stands at 250 kmph.
In terms of mechanics and features, the new S60 Polestar will receive larger brakes and enhanced suspension. It will also get a sportier body kit and its large 20” Polestar alloy wheels will add to its intrinsic appeal. Interior comforts will include sports seats done up in nubuck leather.
Carbon fiber elements are to be seen throughout its interior makeup as compared to wooden and aluminum inserts seen in the standard model. Where safety features are concerned, the S60 Polestar will get all the standard equipment seen on Volvo models along with Volvo City Safety feature allowing for automatic braking in conditions of impending collision when at less than 50 kmph speed. Volvo S60 Polestar can stop from 100-0 kmph in 37 meters.
In terms of pricing, while the standard S60 T6 is priced at INR 45.73 lakhs while the Mercedes AMG C43 carries a price tag of INR 75 lakhs. This makes the Polestar S60’s price tag of INR 52.5 lakh a brilliant proposition in the performance luxury car market.
