The new 2017 Volvo XC60 SUV, all wheel drive, has been launched in India. This XC60 is offered in the fully loaded Inscription trim and with an aggressive price tag of Rs 55.9 lakh, ex-showroom.

2017 Volvo XC60 made its public debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and entered production in Sweden in April this year. It is based on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, on which Volvo XC90 is also based.

Charles Frump, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India with the new XC60.

2017 Volvo XC60 is seen with an exterior similar to that of the XC90. It gets a signature style multi slat grille, LED Thor Hammer headlamps and vertically stacked LED tail lamps. Its sporty appeal is accentuated by a sports front bumper, larger air intakes and sporty 19” alloys. Interiors get comfort, safety and infotainment features among which are Nappa leather upholstery, Bowers & Wilkins audio system and heads up display.

It receives a range of radar based safety systems such as adaptive cruise control that automatically adjusts speed depending on speed of the vehicle ahead, as is also seen on the XC90. There will also be a 360 degree camera, semi automatic parking, blind spot assist and lane departure alert. Engine specifications on the XC60 include a 2.0 liter D5 diesel engine offering 235 hp power mated to an 8 speed automatic transmission.

In India, the Volvo XC60 will be assembled from the company plant in Bengaluru so as to keep prices at affordable levels. It will however, find plenty of competition in the country from the Land Rover Discovery Sport (Rs 55.47 lakh), Mercedes-Benz GLC (Rs 51.73 lakh), Audi Q5 (Rs 53.7 lakh), Jaguar F-Pace (Rs 60.02 lakh) and BMW X3 (Rs 54 lakh).
