Rapid Rider Plus is powered by a 1.0 liter TSI petrol engine claiming 18.97 kmpl fuel efficiency
Skoda has introduced a new variant for their Rapid sedan. Called Rapid Rider Plus, it sits above the base Rapid variant. It comes in at an introductory price of Rs.7.99 lakhs. This is about Rs 50k more expensive than the base Rapid variant. Rapid Rider Plus is offered in a choice of four colour options of Candy White, Carbon Steel, Brilliant Silver and Toffee Brown.
The new Skoda Rapid Rider Plus is seen with blacked out front grille and B pillars, a new lip spoiler and chrome window garnish. Its interiors boast of increased technology with a 6.5 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with SmartLink connectivity. It also receives automatic climate control 12V ports both at the front and rear, adjustable head rests and folding arm rest while interior is in a unique two tone ebony and sand colour scheme.
Rapid Rider Plus onboard safety equipment includes rear parking sensors, dual airbags, height adjustable seat belts and ABS. Central locking, powered ORVMs, adjustable steering, one touch power windows and adjustable driver seat is also a part of the features seen on the new Rapid Rider Plus.
Engine & Mileage
The new Rapid Rider Plus is powered by a BS6 compliant 1.0 liter TSI petrol engine that offers 108 hp power and 175 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. This new sedan is said to be a fuel efficient offering, delivering 18.97 kmpl. This when compared to the older 1.6 liter petrol engine, fuel efficiency has been increased by as much as 23 percent.
2020 Skoda Rapid Variants and Prices
Skoda India is offering all those who have booked a Skoda Rapid Rider edition an upgrade to the Rapid Rider Plus variant. The new Skoda Rapid River Plus variant is priced at an introductory Rs.7.99 lakhs. It is positioned between the Rapid Rider, priced at Rs.7.49 lakhs and the Ambition variant which carries a price tag of Rs.9.99 lakhs. However, it is Rs. 3.8 lakhs more affordable than the Style variant while the Monte Carlo is priced at Rs.11.79 lakhs.
The Skoda Rapid Rider Plus is positioned in the compact sedan segment to rival the Honda City and Hyundai Verna. However, its special pricing will also see it take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire, Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze, Tata Altroz and Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
