While YoY growth for top 10 cars in March 2023 is positive at 10.86%, MoM growth is down marginally by -0.09%

Maruti continues to dominate, with 7 of its cars featured in top 10 list. Tata Motors has Nexon and Punch at 5th and 9th place, respectively, whereas Hyundai Creta comes in at 6th place. In terms of YoY growth, all except WagonR and Dzire have positive sales growth. In MoM terms, four cars have negative growth. Maruti Dzire is the only car in top ten to register negative growth in both YoY and MoM terms.

Top 10 Cars March 2023 – Maruti Swift leads

Maruti Swift registered sales of 17,559 units in March, which is YoY growth of 28.89%. Sales in the corresponding period last year were at 13,623 units. Swift’s share of sales in top 10 was 12.33% in March. MoM growth is down by -4.63%, as compared to 18,412 units sold in February 2023.

WagonR is in second place with sales of 17,305 units in March. YoY growth is down by -29.75%, as compared to 24,634 units sold last year in March. WagonR share in sales in top ten was at 12.15%. MoM growth is 2.46%, as compared to 16,889 units sold in February 2022.

At number three in the list is Maruti Brezza with sales of 16,227 units in March. YoY growth is 30.45%, as compared to 12,439 units sold last year in March. Percentage share in sales is at 11.40% in March. Brezza MoM growth is 2.79%, as compared to 15,787 units sold in February 2023. Brezza is the No 1 selling SUV for 2nd month in a row, beating Tata Nexon.

Maruti Baleno is next with 16,168 units sold in March. YoY growth is 11.35%, as compared to 14,520 units sold in March last year. Baleno’s share in sales in top ten is at 11.36%. MoM growth is down by -13.04%, as compared to 18,592 units sold in February 2023.

At number fifth is Tata Nexon, with sales of 14,769 units in March. YoY growth is 3.17%, as compared to 14,315 units sold in March last year. Nexon share in sales in top ten is at 10.37%. MoM growth is 6.14%, as compared to 13,914 units sold in February 2023.

Creta has the highest YoY and MoM growth in top 10

Hyundai Creta is at 6th place, with sales of 14,026 units in March. YoY growth is 33.18%, as compared to 10,532 units sold in March last year. Percentage share in sales in top ten is at 9.85%. Creta MoM growth is 34.59%, which again is highest in top 10. Creta sales in February 2023 were at 10,421 units.

Maruti Dzire is next with sales of 13,394 units in March. YoY growth is down by -28.08%, as compared to 18,623 units sold in March last year. Share in sales is at 9.41%. Dzire MoM growth is also down by -20.26%, as compared to 16,798 units sold in February 2023.

At number 8th in the list is Maruti Eeco, with sales of 11,995 units in March. YoY growth is 30.08%, as compared to 9,221 units sold in March last year. Share in sales is at 8.42%. Eeco MoM growth is 5.66%, as compared to 11,352 units sold in February 2023.

Tata Punch is ninth, with sales of 10,894 units in March. YoY growth is 3.50%, as compared to 10,526 units sold in March last year. Share in sales is at 7.65%. MoM growth is down by -2.46%, as compared to 11,169 units sold in February 2023. At number ten is Maruti Grand Vitara, with sales of 10,045 units in March. Percentage share in top ten is 7.05%. MoM growth is 9.39%, as compared to 9,183 units sold in February 2023.
